In addition to writing, Joy taught k-12 Art and k-12 Science in public schools, and was an adjunct at the University of Vermont developing and teaching graduate courses on The Creative Process, Art-driven Curriculum Development, Multicultural Arts, and Teaching for Social Justice and Equity. Joy is a Yoga Instructor, certified through Yoga Vermont, and she grows and prepares (and loves to share!) plant-based foods that are healthy for the body and the planet, and quite delicious, too! Joy was born in Brooklyn, and returns to NYC often. She now lives on a dead-end dirt road in rural Vermont, along the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain, where she writes, paints, bakes, belts show tunes, revels in the changing seasons and the abundant natural beauty, and takes way too many photos of the magnificent sunsets. Joy is also the proud owner of a coveted NPR lapel pin. Joy's new YA novel, Perfect Pitch: A Tale of Soccer, Song, and Salvation, is currently out on submission. |
